Formentera del Segura is a traditional Spanish town situated in the Vega Baja area of the Southern Costa Blanca, Spain. Set amongst orange groves and surrounded by the mountains of Callosa del Segura and Orihuela and located less than 10 minutes drive from the coastal towns of Guardamar del Segura, La Marina and Torrevieja its easy to see why this has become a popular area for buyers looking for a sunny getaway. Unlike many of the coastal areas, dependent solely on tourists, Formentera del Segura has a strong Spanish population, which ensures this area stays open all year round. As a result it has become popular amongst many Northern Europeans looking for a winter holiday retreat, summer holiday house or permanent home in Southern Spain. Its proximity to the towns of Ciudad Quesada, Benijofar and Rojales, and the beach resorts of Guardamar del Segura, La Marina and Torrevieja means its popularity is only likely to increase. Enjoy the spectacular climate and take a walk or cycle along the Rio Segura, sit and enjoy a lunch of tapas washed down with a glass of the local wine, at any of the local Spanish and international bars in this quaint little village or take classes and learn how to order una grande copa de vino in Spanish! Like every town and village in the local area, the Spanish never need an excuse to party. Join them and help celebrate their heritage in the abundance of fiestas that seem to run weekly from Easter to Christmas. Fireworks, paella, all night discos and colourful street parades will mean youll never be short of something to do.
